Ikaru for Everything
Like its slogan, House Ikaru is ubiquitous. It is nearly impossible to exist from a significant time in the Aetherium without reading or hearing the corporate mantra, or feeling its cold grasp. Ikaru for everything speaks to the breadth of House Ikaru’s influence in both worlds. Ikaru products, SIM sets in particular, are pervasive. For multitudes, the mere possibility of the Aetherium is unthinkable without the use of some wetwear interface, software, console, or other utility.
On some level, House Ikaru produces every relevant product, certainly every relevant product for the Aetherium and many beyond. If not Ikaru itself, then the responsibility rests with a distant corporate cousin or subsidiary indirectly, but no less vehemently, under Ikaru control.
Herein lies the genius bound within the Ikaru model of vertical integration. It is said that House Ikaru does not just make the hammer; it mines the ore, and grows the trees that make the material for the hammer itself. Nothing is beyond its steely grasp.
Ikaru for Ever
The second half of House Ikaru’s corporate dogma announces the frigtening depth of its ambition. The pivotal figure Lord Ikaru Mazudo brought House Ikaru to the Aetherium with the desire that his feudal house should exist eternally. In order to monitor his goal directly, Mazudo achieved his own extended lifespan though aggressive use of artificial, genetic, and chemical augmentation.
But Lord Mazudo was greatly surpassed by his beloved son, Lord Yokosuka. The Central Processor was the key element in Ikaru’s triumph in the First Great Trade War. but what is it exactly, and where did it come from? Few could say with authority, but the sudden disappearance of Lord Yokosuka t the moment of the Central Processor’s – Osu’s – realization hardly seems coincidence.
The notion is a simple one, and profoundly disturbing in its implication. Yokosuka is Osu. His is the ultimate ambition and the most profound sacrifice.
Therein lies the breath of House Ikaru’s true purpose, a purpose found at the core of Lord Mazudo’s obsession. Artificial intelligence – but only so much as it serves as the mechanism for life beyond life. In the Aetherium, Lord Mazudo aimed to find immortality. His son found it.
One is left to question, then, the true source and nature of all House Ikaru Artificial Intelligence…
