You will discover pretty early in this game that you have been murdered. But your soul stays to resolve unfinished business. As much as you would like to join your wife in the afterlife, you are stuck until you can figure out what is going on. You will have to follow clues that take you to the police station, the church, the museum, and an old house. Along the way you investigate the clues and discover more of the story. If you just do the story you can complete this game in about an hour. If you try to find all the hidden collectables it might take you three hours. Finding the collectables seems to be the bigger part of this game. The hunt for those do take you through some pretty nice parts of a fictional Salem. The story part of the game is somewhat fun even if short. Essentially you come upon a scene and then must find the clues to solve the mystery of that area. Kind of like CSI. The game has a few other mechanics such as possessing people, possessing cats to get to areas you can’t access, and taking out demons. The taking out demons seem more like something they threw in to slow your progress down. I found them annoying more than anything. You have to sneak up behind them and pull the right trigger as just the right moment before they turn around or before another one sees you. If you are spotted by a demon you must hide in floating souls. To me this was just a distraction from the game that at times was frustrating.
Overall I liked the story though it was really a short part of the game. Getting collectables also was fine even if a few of them are a pain to find. Lucky thing is that they do glow but the unlucky thing is that it can be kind of hard to track what ones you are missing and where they might be. Some of them can only be accessed during certain parts of the story and you can’t go back for them if you miss them. It also was frustrated with the demons and trying to sneak up behind them at just the right time. I did like the level of spookyness the game had as well as the location of the game. All in all not a terrible game just had some areas that it was kind of weak in.
