Kyle Higgins

Kyle Higgins, born June 12, 1985, is a graduate of Chapman University’s Film Production program. Originally from Homer Glen, IL, at the age of seven Kyle discovered the 1978 version of Superman, directed by Richard Donner. The movie first introduced Kyle to two of his biggest passions: filmmaking and comic books. With his fascination for superheroes fueling his love of cinema, Kyle began to pursue a career in filmmaking at a very early age. However, Kyle’s first notable project was a three disc DVD set titled Lockport Porters: State Champions. The DVD chronicled his high school football team’s journey to their first State Championship. Kyle designed the entire set, including case entrapments, disc designs, DVD menus, and each disc’s programming. He then found funding and had t he set mass-produced. The DVD was a success, leading to notable sales and publicity, including several articles/interviews with newspapers around Chicago.

After finishing high school, Kyle was hired to animate and direct a series of music videos for Moonstone Comics, a comic book publishing company based in the Chicagoland area. The videos premiered at Moonstone’s booth during Wizard World Chicago, one of the largest comic book conventions in the country. Kyle spent the next two years at the University of Iowa, where he studied film and creative writing. It was here, studying with members of the Iowa Writer’s Workshop that Kyle further developed his writing.

After his sophomore year, Kyle transferred to Chapman University in Orange, CA. A film production major, his recent work at Chapman has included writing, directing, editing, motion graphics, and sound design. In the fall of 2006, Kyle took on an internship with The Donners’ Company, which provided an opportunity to work for Director Richard Donner, the man responsible for the film that introduced Kyle to cinema祐uperman. While at the company, Kyle began developing his idea for The League with the help of Derek Hoffman, Jack Dubnicek and screenwriter Tom Mankiewicz (Superman, Diamonds are Forever, Live and Let Die). In the spring of 2008, Kyle was nominated for and won Chapman University’s award for “Best Sound Design” on The League.
