Fiction book review for “Unlucky 13”

Unlucky 13 by James PattersonOverview: When two dead bodies are found inside a wrecked car on the Golden Gate Bridge, Detective Lindsay Boxer doubts that it will be anything as simple as a traffic accident.

The scene is more gruesome than anything she has seen before. It definitely wasn’t the crash that killed these people.

While Lindsay starts to piece this case together, she gets a call she wasn’t expecting. Sightings of her ex-colleague-turned-ruthless-killer Mackie Morales have been reported.

Wanted for three murders, Mackie has been in hiding since she escaped from custody. But now she’s ready to return to San Francisco and pay a visit to some old friends.

This book might be my favorite one in the series.  It has multiple stories that could have been stories on their own, and you get them all in one book.  The events of the last book carry over into this book, and that also is not something common in this series.  The real question is will the murderous psycho be found, or will she find you.  Then, Yuki is on her honeymoon when terrorists attack the boat she is on.  This really was written in a way that it could have been its own novel.  You also have the belly bomber, still making people blow up from the inside.  I have one issue with this.  The mayor refuses to shut down a chain of restaurants.  Really every death from that point is on his hands and I wish someone would have pointed that out.

Overall, this book was maybe the best one in the series so far.  It has so much going on that it didn’t have a dull moment.  This really keeps you flipping the pages.  With so many angles going, it was hard when the story would switch between them as you wanted more of the story they were on, but you also wanted more of the story they switched to.  This book is just written about as good as a book can be.
