This book had so much promise, with the iconic Joker as one of the main villains. What I really appreciated was how it delved into the twisted mind of the Joker, portraying him as a maniacal lunatic with a hint of reasoning. However, the part where he somehow acquires a bat suit was a bit of a head-scratcher.
The dynamic between two super villains stepping on each other’s toes added an interesting layer of tension, showcasing the selfish nature of villains – which, let’s be honest, is pretty spot on. The general mistrust of Batman that arises from certain events was a clever plot point that kept me on my toes.
I particularly enjoyed how each chapter began with a newspaper clipping, offering a different perspective on the happenings in Gotham City. It added depth to the story and I found myself missing it when a chapter didn’t have one.
While the book started off a bit slow, it was all part of building suspense for the later twists and turns. Overall, this is a solid read that will surely please most Batman fans.
