Lindsey’s job is no walk in the park, that’s for sure. It seems like her department is the laughing stock of the country, with the San Francisco police department taking the cake for being the absolute worst. Poor Lindsey has to deal with budget cuts, a never-ending workload, and minimal support. It’s like she’s fighting a losing battle.

The beginning of this book is not exactly my cup of tea. It doesn’t do justice to Lindsey’s skills and makes her look like a rookie. Now she’s up against not one, but two killers. One is offing call girls in a twisted way, while the other is causing chaos at the hospital. Both are heartless and show no remorse for their actions. Lindsey’s got her work cut out for her, that’s for sure.

She’s flying solo more than usual in this book, which gives it more of a “Lindsey show” vibe. It’s a bit of a departure from the usual murder mystery club dynamic, and her crew seems to only pop in for some girl talk. It feels a bit empty at times.

Overall, this book isn’t half bad. The killers are downright chilling, and their actions are enough to make your skin crawl. They’re like the perfect villains, taunting everyone with their heinous deeds. But there are some moments where the characters’ reactions just don’t add up, taking away from the story’s impact. It’s like they’re bending over backwards to make the plot work.
