Of Note: Jim’s dad’s first name was never defined as it was never used. In the bonus footage where the writer explains some unanswered questions, he invents a name for Jim’s dad, calling him Bullwinkle.

Out of the trio of American Pie movies, this one definitely takes the cake as my least favorite. It felt like a half-empty pie with a limited number of returning characters, making it a bit lackluster. Plus, let’s be real, some of the scenes were as predictable as a pie cooling on a windowsill.

I couldn’t help but cringe at some of the characters’ actions that seemed totally out of character. It’s like the writers were playing a game of Pin the Tail on the Character Development, blindfolded. They seemed to have forgotten where these characters came from and where they were headed.

Sure, there were some moments that had me laughing so hard I almost spit out my pie, but overall, this movie falls a bit flat compared to its predecessors. I’d say give it a watch if you’re a die-hard American Pie fan looking to complete your collection, but maybe just rent it instead of buying.
