Reflecting on this 1960 film presents a few hurdles to overcome. The lack of color, limited set, and reliance on acting to carry the story all pose challenges. Fortunately, the acting in this film is adequate. However, the storyline leaves something to be desired. The premise of two sides of the civil war continuing to fight over gold is intriguing, but the execution falls short. Despite a few unexpected twists, the film fails to meet modern storytelling standards. Additionally, the excessive focus on a gatling gun that can’t seem to hit anything adds to the film’s shortcomings. In the end, while this film may have its moments, it struggles to keep up with contemporary cinematic standards.
