This book was a must-read for me, as I have a weakness for this kind of material. While it does have its fair share of tongue-in-cheek moments, it also delivers plenty of chuckles. The book is cleverly divided into sections based on different types of horror films, offering tips on how to survive a slasher, possession by a demon, or even a showdown with the devil himself.
However, I must admit that I was slightly disappointed by the fact that the book is written from the perspective of being trapped in a movie. It would have been much more intriguing if it delved into horror mythology and provided practical advice on surviving these terrifying scenarios in real life. Instead, most of the advice involves outsmarting the director or breaking unwritten movie rules.
Despite this, the book is still an enjoyable read and will definitely elicit a few laughs. Just don’t expect any serious insights here. The book’s answers to survival scenarios are more along the lines of “show the devil a picture of a cat” – something that would never fly in a horror movie, causing chaos for the director.
In conclusion, while this book may not offer practical survival tips, it is a fun and entertaining read for any horror enthusiast. Just remember to take it with a grain of salt and enjoy the ride!
Overall this is a short and fun book to read. It give a few laughs but you should know that very little of the book can actually be taken serious. The only part of the book that can be taken serious is the final section when the author goes through and gives a must watch movie list and explains why you should watch it. Just know what you are getting when you pick up this book. I would recommend getting it used because for the price it sells new you still are only getting a 175 page book and even that contains a lot of pictures.
