I know that some will scoff at my rating above. You must just be a Republican fanboy. I can hear some of you already thinking that all of that must be true. Well, this books should not be about party affiliation, but more about the history of what happened during George W. Bush’s Presidency. We had a lot of events in those years that will define our country for years to come. From terrorist attacks, to natural hurricanes, to a financial crisis. We get to learn things about Bush about his personal life, such as how religious he was to how he decided that he had to give up drinking. He goes into the decision to use advanced interrogation techniques and why it was needed, as well as a simple act can be perceived when viewed by the public. This book is based around decisions that Bush made both in his life and during his presidency. Each one of these decisions was thought out, as was how it was presented in the book. I appreciated the insight into the life of George W. Bush and what life was like for him as President. For some people, reading this book will be tough. If you don’t believe in some of his policies, it could seem that he is blaming others for shortfalls. You could see how his decision to go into Iraq on false pretense of weapons of mass destruction may not suit your pallet. He tries to lay out what the information was and why he made the decision. Those that want to hear the message in this book would hear that he laid the groundwork for at a lot of things that he will never get credit for. As you go through this book it seems clear that he is ok with what he accomplished in his presidency, he does have some regrets but for the most part he feels comfortable that he dis the best he could with the information he had. I enjoyed the perspective he gives on the decisions he made. It had some moments that draw you in emotionally and make you want to cry. What is really important, as the book kept me wanting to read on throughout. The insights are enough, well insightful.

Overall, I just really appreciated seeing the process that went behind presidential decisions. A glimpse at what it was like for the president during some challenging times. To be fair to his presidency he did face more than most. As he says himself that one day, most likely after he is gone, people will really know what the impact of his presidency was. This book does a great job presenting that information directly from Bush and his perspective.
