The book follows an Inquisitor who is the valiant hero standing between Chaos and humanity. He must put his life on the line, along with those around him, to ensure that the Chaos horde does not lay its hands on a crucial artifact hidden in the mysterious Medina Corridor, as legend has it. The story itself meandered along for the majority of the book, leaving readers wondering when the action would finally kick in. And when it did, it felt like everything leading up to that point was just fluff. Even the main character, at times, seemed to fall short of the badass Inquisitor we were expecting.

Overall, trudging through this book was a bit of a chore. The sequences didn’t seem to build upon each other, but rather existed to simply fill pages. After finishing the book, I found myself questioning whether I should bother continuing with the rest of the series. It felt like the story could have benefited from an extra chapter or two to tie up loose ends. I couldn’t help but feel a bit shortchanged by the lack of a more satisfying conclusion after investing so much time and effort into the book. A little more closure would have been nice.
