Counterblast faction – Mekkus
During the First Galactic War the then-thriving world of Gallinia Prime decided to develop remote mechanized Weaponry to utilize in battle in place of its citizenry.
However, almost overnight the indigenous race of Gallinia was wiped from the surface of their own planet when their mechanical constructs achieved their own consciousness and turned on their makers. The constructs began to run the forges and factories, churning out more and more copies of themselves until their resources were completely exhausted.
Soon Gallinia Prime became a wasteland, dotted with only mega factories and the ruined urban remains of Gallinian civilization, devoid of any organic life. With the forges and factories on the verge of shutting down, the Meknet considered its option of off world expansion. With no resources left on Gallinia Prime for crafting space faring vehicles, the Mekkus, as the Galactic Council and Neiran refer to them, have taken to commandeering ships across the Outer Reaches and other parts of the galaxy. Using these ships, they have started gathering and transporting resources back to their factories on Gallinia Prime.
Mekkus function as a linked collective of sentient artificial-intelligence powered machines. Unlike other bots, each Mekkus is built on a predesignated modular chassis that denotes its size, locomotion, and armament. Some units possess uplink nodes, able to act as relay points for their Orbital Command Unit broadcast signal. Capable of activating various Mekkus besides themselves and operating like leaders do in other forces, units with the uplink nodes aid coordinating and directing all mission operations for Mekkus forces. Without uplink node units, other Mekkus cannot receive their encrypted orders and are rendered less effective or even dormant during combat.
