Pyro Manatics – Subroutine for the Nanomei
When the Aetherium first became available to the general public, masses flooded to the Servers. Once humanity had gotten a taste of what this digital world could offer, there was no turning back. People enjoyed a wealth of experiences while within the system, but no one would have imagined that it would soon become mankind’s latest battleground. As the digital wars began to spread, more and more people found themselves, whether they wanted to or not, dragged into some facet or another of the conflict. With few options remaining, many citizens have thrown in their lot with the Nanomei.
As the Nanomei’s forces have grown, its ranks have swollen with scuz: basic user with no extraordinary talent. With numbers as one of its greatest strengths the Nanomei does not turn these individuals away and most end up running as or controlling subroutines. Those with an affinity towards fire but lacking the skills to manifest as a Tov program or simply those with a bit more of a chaotic streak end up as Pyro Manatics.
Like many of the Nanomei’s lesser entities. Pyro Manatic users tend to be average Maeterial world citizens that have decided to take a stand against their oppressors. Most hide their identities with all manner of gas masks and flame retardant equipment. Sporting weapons as simple as hand held lighter to stolen flamethrowers, a Pyro Manatic program is literally the burning rage of the Nanomei made manifest.
Pyro Manatics make up a large portion of the Nanomei’s rank and file. While they lack the talent to warrant control of a function, they at least have the strength of will to operate independently of one another. Alone, they pose little threat to most other users and programs, but can sometimes overwhelm an opponent through weight of numbers.
Pyros are usually the first sign of an impending Nanomei attack. They are not used for simple protests or anti-government demonstrations. When Manatics are released it is as the first wave of much larger collective. They are reckless weapons, gleefully initiating firewalls and burning everything around them. When they combine their efforts their potential for damage seems to magnify exponentially. If working alongside a Tov program they seem to feed off its fervor, their fires intensifying as anything in the general vicinity is turned to ash.
