The Puppeteer – Nanomei Avatar

The opening of the Aetherium to the general public was met with an avalanche of minds ready to escape their dreary lives. People from all walks of life poured inward. The promise of a new world, one free of the control, pollution, and suffering was a euphoric drug to the downtrodden and effete alike. It was the user’s dreamscape, a paradise where they could do what they wanted and when they wanted without fear or consequence.

This digital world also became home to what was later referred to as key punchers: those users with a talen far above the average individual. To these hackers, the Aetherium promised endless opportunity beyond an already utopian ideal. It was a universe in which they could push their talents to staggering conclusion. Of the numberless key punchers at work, none were as gifted as the user known as Flynn.

Flynn was already a well-known hacker in the digital community before the opening of the Aetherium. There was no system he could not breach, no cyberlaw he hand not broken. Like most hackers, Flynn was not above selling secrets he found to make a little cash on the side. while the Aetherium was still in its infancy Flynn discovered his talents translated seamlessly. He broke into RexCon preliminary systems and some accounts claim that he once accessed Dr. Vasches personal records. Some of this information he sold, some he kept for himself, and some he simply left behind in a trail of digital chaos. Eventually, Flynn came closer than anyone before to uncovering the truth behind the Axiom figurehead Lady Aemelia Mastrona.

Unfortunately for Flynn the Axiom discovered his meddling and came after him with a brutal and singular recklessness. For weeks he was able to dodge and escape his pursuers. Time and time again he outwitted them, always one keystroke ahead. In the chaos of his pursuit, Flynn was approached by the Masque himself. The message was simple, ‘Find Me.’ It was too much for Flynn to pass up. For months he tracked this illusive phantom.

Finally in the dead of a winter’s night, Flynn’s endeavors brought him to an abandoned distinct from the Aetherium’s earliest days. There in the center of the shadowy building he came face to face with the Masque. No one is sure what The Masque said or what may have been offered to Flynn, but in the end Flynn emerged indelibly altered: The Puppeteer.

The Puppeteer has carved a reputation for himself, far surpassing that of Flynn. Overnight he became a recruiter, orator, and leader. He would broadcast live feeds: hacking into public domains, interrupting Axiom sermons, and cutting into Ikaru advertisements. He would find the most hidden secrets of the Nanomei’s enemies and then pass them into the public eye. On the battlefield of the frontiers he manipulates everything around him, rearranging the very fabric of the server and controlling his companions for brief moments. His powers now seem limitless and his reach never ending.
