Recommendations:Disney Infinity
This game does make a few improvements over the first one. A better leveling up system, improved toy box and interiors. You actually get to pick how your figures level up and what powers they enhance or gain. The toy box not only has all the items you unlocked in the first one but also a whole list of new items. The interiors are new and give you the sense of building a secret hideout for your superheros. It also has a few points that I was expecting more with. It comes with one play set, The Avengers play set. You get three characters for this play set, and this was nice. In Disney 2.0 if you wanted to play with any of the three play sets with a second player you had to buy an extra figure. The fact that it is multiplayer ready is good, but The Avengers play set seemed so short. We also got the Spider-Man play set and for the most part it seems like the same thing as the Avengers play set but with different characters and bad guys. The toy box has a lot more options, but we kept running out of room. They have a fix for that, as you can link toy boxes with doors. This is not perfect, but it is better than nothing. It also comes with a level that is rather fun, you get to sample a bunch of different Disney characters not related to Marvel such as Aladdin and Merida from Brave in a level that shows off the abilities of these characters. The Avengers play set by itself does seem short, the mission a lot of times are go here, defeat this, and return. I give all the negatives, so I can justify not giving it a better rating than Disney Infinity 1 yet still feeling like this game did make some positive strives. Playing with some of the top Marvel heroes is fun, even if it does get pricey if you want to collect a bunch of the characters. The last aspect of the game I want to mention is the power discs that come with the main box. This gives you access to two more game modes. One is kind of a tower defense style game and the other is more of an adventure style game that can get a little long if you try to play through all the levels.
Overall, this is a great game that offers many hours of entertainment. It is fun for kids and still offers enough game play to be fun for adults. More importantly, it is fun for adults to play with there kids. I even found myself playing this game when my child was sleeping, so that does say something for the games’ ability to capture the interest of both age groups. If you liked the first one you will like this one as they did make a few changes that enhanced the game but at the cost of taking away some of the better aspects of the first one.
