This series is starting to feel like the author is on autopilot. The latest installment features a string of mysterious deaths involving wealthy and well-known individuals. The bodies show no signs of struggle, and tests fail to determine a cause of death. It’s like they’re dropping like flies for no apparent reason. But fear not, a breakthrough emerges when a connection to past cases is uncovered.

Meanwhile, a homeless man meets a tragic end on the streets, prompting our fearless protagonist Cindy to launch her own investigation. The identity of the killer targeting the rich and famous is glaringly obvious from the get-go, making the rest of the story feel like filler material.

The lack of suspense is disappointing, and the resolution involving Bagman Jesus falls flat. Sure, there’s a clever moment or two, but it’s not enough to justify the endless pages dedicated to it.

Overall, this book and the series as a whole are on a downward spiral. The lackluster unfolding of events fails to captivate, and the cases presented pale in comparison to earlier installments. Lindsey’s romantic escapades feel tired and unnecessary, detracting from the series’ strengths. It’s time for a shake-up, or else Lindsey Boxer might lose her appeal altogether.
