Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Overview: Harry Potter has never played a sport while flying on a broomstick. He’s never worn a cloak of invisibility, befriended a giant, or helped hatch a dragon. All Harry knows is a miserable life with the Dursleys, his horrible aunt and uncle, and their abominable son, Dudley. Harry’s room is a tiny closet at the foot of the stairs, and he hasn’t had a birthday party in eleven years.
But all that is about to change when a mysterious letter arrives by owl messenger: a letter with an invitation to a wonderful place he never dreamed existed. There he finds not only friends, aerial sports, and magic around every corner, but a great destiny that’s been waiting for him…if Harry can survive the encounter.

We decided to pick up the audiobook version of *Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone*, knowing we had several long car trips ahead. We thought it might keep our son entertained during the journey. Little did we know, it was my wife and I who ended up thoroughly entertained! Our son did listen and chuckle at some parts, but he often drifted off to sleep, perhaps a bit too young for the magical adventures of Harry Potter. I’m curious to see how he’ll react to the movie—maybe the visuals will keep him awake!
The story follows young Harry, whose parents were tragically killed by a dark wizard whose name is so feared it’s hardly uttered. After this devastating loss, Harry finds himself living with his Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon, who treat him worse than a houseplant. Seriously, they make him sleep under the stairs, as if that’s a luxury! But then, strange things start happening, and Harry receives an invitation to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This is where the magic truly begins! Harry starts to make real friends and uncovers the truth about his past, discovering that he has a destiny unlike any other.
Overall, I absolutely loved this first installment of the series. I can’t wait to dive into the next books! It’s easy to see why *Harry Potter* has captivated readers of all ages. The fantasy woven into the narrative adds a delightful twist that makes the story irresistibly fun. How can you not enjoy following Harry as he embarks on his incredible journey toward his destiny? It’s a tale that enchants the heart and sparks the imagination!
