House Ikaru Avatar – Mother of Machines

The Mother of Machines, Matriarch of House Ikaru’s AI classes, and Aisu of the Quantum Stillness.
The mother of machines is a symbol of mechanical beauty, efficiency, and calculated intelligence. But she was not always so.

Before she became the Mother of Machines, she was known as Aisu – one of the oldest and original Avatars in the Ikaru household.  Aisu, a distant but favored niece to Lord Ikaru Yokosuka himself, was rumored to have accomplished the impossible, the unspeakable, and she did so at the intersection of the Aetherium and Artificial Intelligence.

The idea had lingered for generations as techno-mythology.  For years, humanity had explored a variety o high function artificial intelligences pivotal in unlocking the Quantum Noise; however, the computational processes required to create a robust yet, subtle AI (one that could genuinely meet the fathomless complexity of a human subject) remained daunting.  Coders could create a mindful program, but it seemed another matter entirely replicate authentically a specific mind, with all its talent and hope and love and desire.  The science seemed to border on the arcane.

Aisu was driven.  She desired above all else to rebuild her mind, perhaps her soul, in AI form, and she is rumored to have discovered a pathway.  In her final breath, she is said to have pierced the veil and downloaded her pure mind into an artificial shell.  The truth of the matter remains obscure, such is the reclusiveness of Ikaru nobility that few can, or would ever, testify to have seen Aisu in the flesh, let alone to have witnessed her mythical translation.  Her material form was beyond the reach of all but a few servants, many themselves already rudimentarily mechanized.

The rumor persists.  Aisu became the Mother of Machines.  And in the process of her artificial replication, Aisu is said to have communicated directly with the core anima, the mysterious winds believed to blow within the quantum noise.  She translated, yes, and she emerged reborn as the Mother of Machines, having spoken to the spirits there and learned from them.  This, then, explains her extraordinary insight into how mind, and immaterial interact.  This is why she understands the language of the Aetherial universe so beautifully, and why she remains unique in her ability to mitigate two worlds.

Now, the Mother of Machines is widely regarded within the commercial ranks of House Ikaru as an ideal form of the anima in the machine, the soul of Artificial Intelligence.  She is the fierce and gentle matriarch of the Ikaru faithful.
