This episode focuses on kids and how parents lives change. From a kid that was kicked out of the house and still sneaks in to a supermom that uses her blog to get all kinds of free stuff, even if that means putting on a party that no one wanted. It also goes into how the lives of Chinney and Maddie have changed now that they have a little one in their house. Hen and Karen are dealing with the child they have been caring for leaving their home for good. I have been in the same place as a foster parent. This is the worst day, and a person can only take so many of those days before they either can’t provide the love that is needed or can’t allow themselves to be put in that place of the kids leaving again. I fully get the reaction of both Hen and Karen. I also get the reaction they get from their son. We got a very similar reaction from ours. I appreciate even more how this story develops and how they come to terms with everything. You also get a story between Athena and May as they both come to terms with the suicide attempt that happened a few years earlier. They are both in different places with that incident and both need to get to a place that they understand each other to fully get through this.
Overall, this was a fantastic episode. They really brought all the stories centered around kids and the things they do to drive us crazy together. Sometimes it was the parents driving the kids crazy, and other times it was the kids driving the parents crazy. Sometimes great parenting skills were used, and others not so much. This episode has a great balance of all of those things and some really powerful stories that are both heartbreaking and uplifting.
