At first, I really wanted to dislike this episode. It is all about Hen and all about how she got to the place she is now. Times are tough as no one wants a female on the team. She has to not only fight that prejudice, but also the fact she is black and lesbian. She has to overcome to make her dream come true.
So why would I think I was going to dislike this episode. I really don’t care for an episode that is all about one character and to make it worse is more of a backstory than advancing the story. Hen is a great character, but this series is better as a whole. The crew all brings something to the department, and that also means they all bring something to the episode. When you pull out one piece, it is never as good as the whole.
Overall, for what this episode was, it was not terrible. It actually has a great story. But it still took one of the great team members and made them stand on their own.
