720 Video Game Review
Features: Hop on and hang ten as you crash around corners, swerve on sidewalks, and leap over the locals at Skate City, a skateboarder’s fantasy world where virtually every surface is skateable. Flip and twist around the street fighters, Frisbee throwers, hard bodies and killer bees that jam city streets. Polish your skills and take your act to the skate parks where you’ll vie for medals and cash in downhill, jump, ramp, and slalom competition.
Recommendations:
I realize this is an old game and had some limits to it. There are other NES games though that do a better job with skateboarding than this game does. It is very limited in what it offers for options. You have four different game players. Downhill is really a ramp that slants back on fourth going down. Jump, which is just a big jump. Ramp is going back and forth in a pike trying to do tricks. Slalom is maybe my favorite of the bunch as you go down a ramp trying to go through the flags. You get to play three of the events right away and have to do well in them before you can do the fourth. Also, while traveling between the events around the town, you have a very limited time before bees come after you.
Overall, this just is not that great of a skating game. There are better ones on the NES and that is what I am judging this game against.
